Party season has well and truly begun and I couldn’t be happier, seeing as December is probably my favourite month of the year; after my Birthday month August. Sorry to all of you’s that hate Winter but this time of year is when I’m at my happiest and one reason is because I get to wear sequined dresses without standing out too much.
I think sequined dresses have always had some sort of association with this time of year, and this one from Bershka was actually the first one I picked up and fell head over heels for it. Trying to change it up a bit and get away from the classic strappy sparkly dress I wore last year; I felt like the high neck, padded shoulders and cut out back toughen the look up and make it a little more 80s, which is an era I wish I’d been a part of…the fashion was to die for. I’ve definitely always been one for a fitted dress, personally just because I feel comfortable in them and feel confident in myself…and If you feel confident in a style then you will more than likely always go back to it. I think sometimes people underestimate the power of clothes and how they can instantly change your mood; I know If if I end up rushing out in the morning in something I hate then my mood for the day is gonna be pretty crap. Where as If I put on something I feel good in, I’m probably gonna end up being my usual giggly and happy self; which Is definitely how I feel in this dress.
I actually wore this to my works Christmas party the other week; which was in turn a night of free wine, karaoke, endless dancing and attempting to not get split up from anyone…harder when you are in a big group. I was pretty sceptical about wearing it at first, you know when you don’t really know what everyone else is wearing. Are they going all out? Are they going casual? Who knows. I’m glad I ended up taking the risk and wearing it because I honestly don’t think you can ever have too many sequins on a dress…even at the works Christmas party. I went for a simple pair of black heels and a fluffy bag as sometimes it’s nice to let the dress do all the talking, and in my case as much as I like over accessorising, a pair of silver earrings was enough for me.
I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this green faux fur scarf so decided to incorporate it into my party look, for any nights or parties I’m feeling a little more out there and adventurous…or just cold. Colour is something I have fallen in love with over the past year or so, so adding it into a December party look only seems right to fully make the outfit me and to make it a little more fun and less serious. This kind of green definitely takes a little confidence to wear, I honestly don’t think the picture shows just how bright it actually is and when I opened my parcel the other day I was greeted with a ‘wow’ from my mum. I used to always wear green, and feel like I’ve neglected it for a couple of years…red definitely took over my wardrobe this year but I’m thinking this may be my new colour. Especially paired with black; it definitely makes for another dream combination.
